Sony has released official info about the upcoming release of Project Morpheus next year. If you don't know about project morpheus, it is going to be one of the most amazing advances in gaming since the Wii revolutionized gaming years ago when it was released. Morpheus will be a virtual reality device that immerses the player in the gaming experience like nothing else before it. Virtual reality has been tried in the past but this is going to be very different, Project Morpheus will use the latest technology to create virtual reality images that must be seen to be believed. It is not only for gaming but also for virtual tourism and other tasks that require a full immersion experience.
The screen will be a 5.7" OLED display with a resolution of 1920x1080 at 120 fps. The release will also coincide with a software update for the PS4 to allow 120 fps when connected to a Morpheus headset device. The headset will feature 9 tracking LEDs on it that will be tracked by the Playstation camera for very accurate and high speed motion tracking. The latest design of the headset will be much more user friendly and lighter than the initial prototype designs, allowing the users great comfort.
Sony offers a special software development kit for developers to use while developing games and software for use with the Project Morpheus headset. SCE has a target launch date for the Morpheus virtual reality headset as early 2016.
